After completing my Bachelors degree in Sports Science at Loughborough University (UK) in 2012 I moved to Brunei where I immediately started work as a graduate teacher and deputy housemistress for a International Boarding School. I worked there for 3 years and was able to not only teach and experience a wide range of sports from basketball to trampoline gymnastics but also develop my pastoral skills in working with boarding students providing mentorship and care. I was also able to travel throughout Asia during this time and gain insight into different cultures, languages and people as well as develop a love for both cooking and eating Asian food!
I moved back to Europe in 2015 with a new job at the British School of Bucharest, working both in Primary and Secondary campuses teaching physical education as well as becoming a classroom tutor for Year 9 students. Supporting students in team sports as well as developing their individual fitness is something I feel passionately about and I enjoy watching their confidence grow in their abilities.
During the last few years I have trained as a yoga instructor and use this skill in developing mindfulness as well as physical strength and flexibility in lessons for students. Learning to balance both physical, emotional and mental development as well as teaching students coping skills for stressful situations is for me a important role as a educator.
I am enjoying my experiences in the Czech Republic very much both in teaching and outside the classroom and looking forward to exploring all it has to offer.
