For the past four years I have been teaching Mathematics in Singapore and have previously worked in Paris and the United Kingdom. I have experience teaching all secondary school age groups and I am familiar with British, American and International Curricula. As a Mathematics teacher, I am a strong believer in the continuous use of assessment for learning practices and I always strive to create a personalised learning experience for each of my students. My lessons are designed to be interactive and to have maximum impact on student learning and progression. Mathematics is accessible to everyone and all students can succeed when given the correct motivation and self-belief.
The role of a form teacher is an essential aspect of international teaching and I always try to build my homeroom into a safe and trusting environment where students will feel comfortable sharing any of their concerns or anxieties. I am very keen to get involved in extracurricular activities at Park Lane. I have previously coached the school football team, ran math competitions, taught forensic science and have led outdoor educational trips.
I live with my wife Virginie who is still doing her best to teach me French and our daughter Aoife, who will start her final year of key stage 3. They will both tell you that my favourite pastime is Mathematics; I love nothing more than sitting down to do some “hard sums” or to create some challenging big questions or projects for my students. I have always run a Mathematics Club at each of my schools and really enjoy mentoring students to take part in International Olympiad Competitions. I also like to keep active and I enjoy swimming and running; my big target for this year is to complete the half marathon distance in less than two hours.
