I have always been a keen athlete taking part in Athletics for many years in Ireland. On top of this I played quite a lot of Gaelic football, which I still continue today in Prague. It was this love of sport that made me study for my Bachelors degree in Physical Education in Limerick, Ireland. It was my love of travelling that then made me decide to work in international schools.
My first school was in Kuwait in the Middle East which was an eye-opening experience and one I won’t forget. I decided I wanted to move back to Europe after two years and I was lucky enough to get a new job at the English International School of Bratislava, working both in Primary and Secondary campuses teaching physical education as well as becoming a classroom tutor for Year 11 students. I really enjoyed my time in Bratislava and the students were lovely.
My approach to teaching in the classroom is student-centred, I believe young people thrive in a happy environment that is safe and engaging. I like to have fun in the classroom as much as possible and it is also my belief that everyone is a capable sports participant.
I am already playing Gaelic football here in my spare time as well as going to the gym. I am also a huge coffee enthusiast and I love spending my weekends exploring the cafes of Prague. If you have any recommendations for good coffee places, please let me know.
