For the past two years, I have been teaching English in Seychelles, a small island off the coast of Africa. Prior to this, I taught in an Australian school for over five years. I always strive to bring a love of learning and passion into my classroom, fostering a safe space to explore knowledge and push ideas. My lessons are designed to be interactive and learner-driven. To me, English is about empathy, imagination, and thinking outside the box, and with the right motivation, support and engagement, everyone can succeed.
In addition to my classroom teaching, I have a passion for activities outside the classroom. In my Australian school, I served as the Shadow Head of the Department of Student Engagement, where I coordinated the Student Council. By focusing on leadership and assigning roles of responsibility to students, I was able to act on the student voice and truly understand what students wanted from their school life. Meanwhile, at my school in Seychelles, I was fortunate enough to lead the Scuba Diving Club and assist in the Eco Club and Reading Club.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy hiking, paddleboarding, scuba diving, and freediving, and I have recently taken up running. My goal is to be able to run a half-marathon by the beginning of next year.
