There is a saying in Czech: „Kolik řečí umíš, tolikrát jsi člověkem.“ (You are as many times a person as the number of languages you speak.). Being raised since birth in a bilingual English/Czech environment, I can personally relate to this saying for my knowledge of the languages I speak and their associated cultures has developed my personality, as well as opened multiple doors to learning.
After completing my I.B. Diploma in Prague I furthered my studies at the University of Leeds, attaining first a BSc in Environmental Science, followed by a MSc in Sustainability Climate Change. This was academically speaking the most enriching time of my life.
Having spent only a short time in the field of my study, working closely with children and adults for the past 14 years has become my career path and I have mostly Park Lane IS to thank for that. I am a returning member of Park Lane IS, this being my first year in the new role of an EAL Support Teacher. Previously I worked for five years in the primary section as a Teaching Partner, having already gained four years of experience working with preschoolers in a private preschool here in Prague. Alongside my new post I am a freelance EAL, Czech and Maths support educator, helping both children and adults in their studies. I am always seeking new challenges to further my professional development. Recently I have participated in a postgraduate mentoring scheme for students from under-represented backgrounds, which allowed me to connect with the next generation of budding professionals.
I can safely say that I feel at home working in an international environment. Here at Park Lane I have always felt as a valid team member, working alongside talented and inspiring teachers. Through mutual support I have had the privilege to guide students on an individual needs basis, and with great joy see them thrive and become more resilient and independent learners with each consecutive year.
Though interested in the arts and culture I presently dedicate the majority of my time to my family.
