Originally from the West Country in the UK, I come from a family of teachers; both maternal grandparents were primary school senior leaders and my mother also worked in secondary education for the duration of her career. I carried out my teacher training in Bath in 2005 and my first teaching post was at a large, high performing comprehensive school in Wiltshire where I was appointed first as a teacher of English, then later as Key stage 3 Coordinator for English during my 5 years at the school. After visiting a teacher friend working in Cairo, I decided that pursuing my career abroad would be a fantastic way for me to develop professionally, whilst seeing more of the world.
In 2011 I travelled to Jordan, where I spent 4 years working as Faculty Leader for English and Psychology at a prominent international school. I joined Park Lane in 2015 as Subject Leader for English and was promoted to Deputy Head of Secondary in January 2016. It is a role I have been honoured to take on and one that I care about passionately. Park Lane is a wonderful place to work and I am incredibly fortunate to help lead such talented students and inspiring staff.
In addition to teaching, I will complete my MA in Education at the University of Bath in May 2020 and I am a founding member of @WomenEdCzech who organise free and low-cost professional development and networking opportunities for teachers in Prague and beyond. My husband, Alex works as the Subject Leader for Humanities here at Park Lane and both of my children are very happy members of the Park Lane EYFS and primary school community.
