On Friday, 22nd March, Dr. Dev Sharma visited the Úvoz campus to lead a workshop for the Y11 and Y12 students on the topic of the Economics of Gender. The workshop was very interesting, and the topics discussed generated many questions from our students. The themes included feminism, gender equality, and sexism. The workshop encouraged students to challenge preconceived ideas on these topics while providing evidence-based data presented by Dr. Sharma.
Dr. Sharma also introduced the students to his recent work, which explored whether free public transport for women in Central Europe would increase their economic involvement and the potential risks this initiative could pose to women. After the workshop, there were many questions from the students; it is safe to say it made them think!
Thank you, Dr. Sharma, for another thought-provoking and informative workshop. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
