On Wednesday the 11th of October, 23 students were joined by 3 teachers on a trip to the Cheltenham Literature Festival. This festival is one of the oldest in the world and offers an excellent opportunity for students to meet with and hear from writers of the highest calibre from a range of genres and styles.
Highlights included a live manga drawing session with Chie Kutsuwada and Julian Sedgwick, a chance to hear from one of the UK’s most well-known, successful writers for children, Jacqueline Wilson, and a presentation by historian Tom Holland. The older students also heard a presentation from the award-winning author, Zadie Smith, and the fantastically engaging performance poet, Harry Baker.
The remaining time was spent exploring the free events happening around the festival site, soaking up the atmosphere, and of course, making their way through the many beautiful bookshops in the historical city of Cheltenham.
