Originally from Devon and Cornwall, I studied and trained in pure eduction at Bath Spa and Bristol university to attain a BEd Honours degree in Primary and Junior Education with the enhanced knowledge of child cognitive development with a part time MEd. Teaching was the vocation for me as my childhood was completely immersed in it. My maternal and paternal grandparents, my parents, my brother and sister-in-law and also my cousins all have been or are head teachers. Pedagogy, the enjoyment of inspiring young adults and caring for children as they journey through their early years most whole heartedly ‘runs in the family’.
I have a very colourful and experienced educational palette so far in my career. I have now been teaching for 24 years of which 18 of these years has been learning to middle and senior manage schools. I have been very lucky to teach in state primary schools and independent private schools in the UK in climates that welcome both same sex and coeducational pupils. I have also worked in international schools before namely Colombo International School, Sri Lanka. combined with my experience I am also proud of my expertise in the field of education too. Along my professional development journey I have also become skilled at training and mentoring new qualified teachers under the auspice of ISTip (independent Schools Teacher Induction Programme), inspecting independent school as a team leader with ISI
(Independent Schools Inspectorate) and enjoying being part of IAPS (Independent Association of Prep Schools). I am also a Governor and Director at the Queen Elizabeth’s Hospital School in Bristol.
I hope to bring to Park Lane International School many attributes that will galvanise all that already is wonderful whilst steering the school community into its next stage of academic excellence and development. I am a head teacher who teaches and a leader who manages a school to be a happy, meaningful and purposeful community. I am very much looking forward to getting to know all the boys and girls as they grow through their childhood- understand their individual personalities, support them in times of need and stretch then to achieve their very best, wherever their talents may lie.
