This year the Day of the Dead (or El día de los muertos, La Toussaint or Walpurgisnacht) will be celebrated on the 1st of November 2022 at Park Lane.
You may know it as one of Latin America‘s (particularly Mexico‘s) most important holidays, but the Day of the Dead is celebrated around the world. But do you know about La Toussaint (the French day of the dead) and how ghosts are celebrated in Guadeloupe or Martinique or even about Walpurgisnacht in Germany and their Witches celebration?
The Day of the Dead is a way to honour the dead and also celebrate the living. Some celebrations involve making altars and offerings to the dead, drinking coffee and spilling coffee on graves, or remembering the dead by telling stories about them
Some involve people cleaning their loved ones’ graves and laying flowers on them, which are said to attract the spirits.
To mark this day, the MFL Department is calling for all Catrinas, Skeletons, Ghosts, Witches and Wizards to join us in this celebration (students and staff). We will be holding a fancy dress contest which will take place in the Learning Centre on the 1st of November at 12.15 PM. Prizes will be given to the best costume!
Nos vemos, A plus tard, Bis bald 🙂
